Summer Program Lethbridge
Who is this program right for?
Bridges Consulting is happy to offer an ABA based summer day program “The Zone”. The program is designed to meet the needs of children, ages 5-17, with issues managing emotional regulation, understanding social rules and difficulties with peers and other social relationships. Our social skills summer program is not designed for significant non-compliant and aggressive behaviors. If this is the case for your child, we would be happy to provide in home supports with a Behavioral or Developmental Aide Agreement.
This program is geared to provide a special place where your children and teens can enjoy a fun summer experience while improving their social skills through carefully developed programming. This program carefully creates a structured social environment to improve your child’s social awareness of their interaction with peers while also focusing attention on skill development.
Most importantly this program can help to empower children to initiate and maintain positive relationships with others. All groups capitalize on the strengths and interests of the participants. The ultimate goal is to teach the children skills that can be used at home, school, in recreational programs, and in other social environments.
Why choose Bridges summer social skills program?
Bridges Summer Social Skills Program provides more frequent and more intensive social skills training compared to traditional summer programs. Unique to the Bridges Program, children will also, on occasion, have the opportunity to interact with typical peers, in order to facilitate generalization of the skills the children are working towards.
Due to the camp’s low participant to staff ratio, we also have the flexibility to adjust our social skills curriculum to meet the ongoing and changing needs of the children in the program. Goals and objectives are individualized, social skills are taught in the environment and context where they are used. It is an excellent opportunity for learning, fun, and friendship-making.
The daily schedule includes a series activities built around a weekly theme. Programming is designed to promote skills targeted at individual client needs. Children will be participating organized games and recreational activities, arts and crafts activities, role playing, lunch, snack, supervised play activities to promote friendship-building and learning to work and play. Children will earn tokens for successful interactions and making good choices and will be able to exchange tokens for prizes at the reward store. There are also various special activities, which may include the following: swimming, spray park, hiking in the river bottom, rock climbing, bowling, martial arts among others. Information is sent weekly to families.
